My primary purpose behind writing this book is to challenge all believers across the religious spectrum to the idea of whether they really believe the word of God. And when I ask if you believe it, I mean, when you read something specific do you have the faith to really believe it?

Do We REALLY Believe That?

When I began this writing project, I confess I never set out to write a book like this. In fact, I was halfway through writing another book when God stopped me and started me on this project of writing something daily on one scripture per day. And from this, “Do we really believe that?” was born.

For example: Concerning His miracles, Jesus said, "[You] will do greater things than these," (Ch. 2), do you believe it?

I know some of the most dedicated believers, people who consistently attend church, give of their money, and try to live good lives prescribed in the pages of the Bible, but those who are also people that I later discovered did not fully believe it. Or at least, they did not act like it. I am speaking about key passages of scripture detailing a lifestyle like Jesus said we could have in a walk dedicated to God. I refuse to ignore scriptures that are not conveniently aligned with my doctrines, or because I lack the faith to see them happen in my life. So, I have a new principle now: When doctrines and scripture clash, scripture gets the last word.

I believe the word of God says what it means and means what it says. Therefore, we are not cavalier about it.  Hopefully, as a Christian you care too, and you are honest enough to admit that some things in the Bible challenge your beliefs. If that is you, I am glad you found this book. I had you in mind as I wrote it.

There is nothing wrong with not feeling your faith in something. As one of my previous pastors said to me once, “Faith is a cold-blooded act of the will. You just choose it.”

So, let go of the pressure to feel something behind each of these scriptures at first. It is okay not to. For example, what I like to do is just say to the Lord, “God, You said, (fill in the blank)...” and then I pray to Him, “So show me how to do that and how to have that kind of faith.”

Some say that we cannot be sure that the scriptures we have today are accurate. However, with over 24,000 manuscripts of scripture discovered through archeology,  I am a firm believer in the fact that we have 99+% of the correct word of God, and for what remains, largely deals with non-doctrinal details. This has been confirmed by archeology throughout the centuries as older pieces of biblical manuscripts have been found confirming what we previously thought to be in the original autographs. I share this if only to put to rest any ideas that the scriptures have been changed or are not as they were originally written, and therefore, we are not compelled to literally follow what we have doubts about. That is simply not true. We must wrestle with the facts, once and for all, and ask ourselves if we are believers in God, then why would we settle for less than all He has for us?

I also understand the feeling of the unknown. Knowing how to get there is a huge unknown at first, but that is a different question. Please do not worry about that at this point. Instead, dive into these scriptures with me and open your mind to God’s possibilities that He can do anything He wants, and He can use you as much as He has used anyone else in human history. If you are open to that possibility, then anything can happen.

So, with that, journey with me into this idea of experiencing a new dimension in your walk with God. Plunge yourself into the promises of His word and begin to live out the new possibilities of what God says He means. It is not an accident that you found this book. God intends to challenge you to believe in Him and that will not only change you, but the world around you.
